Noble Goods gets its name from where it all began in 2011 — on Noble Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Christopher Moore and Molly FitzSimons founded the company in the basement of their home with the intention of doing what they love and doing it well. They began experimenting with different forms and materials and eventually created a line that includes handcrafted coasters, side tables, men’s and women’s wristwear, and cheeseboards featuring their signature, appropriately-themed resin inlays for each. FitzSimons and Moore?make a great team and are attentive to not only the aesthetics of their products, but also the materials that go into making them.
The duo aims to use only locally salvaged or FSC-certified wood that has been sustainably grown and harvested. Their newest collection of waterfall tables and floating shelves are made from locally salvaged wood with an interesting backstory. The wood was collected from 210 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, where a group of artists and small businesses — collectively known as Monster Island — resided. Unfortunately, building residents were evicted and the site was demolished this spring. Located only half a block away, FitzSimons and Moore?watched the process unfold, and they were able to salvage fir beams and joists from the site (with permission). Thus, their latest collection was born.
