Do you find yourself love your grandparents furniture more than the furniture of your parents? In a report for NPR, Andrea Hsu mention this as one of the reasons for the popularity of the furniture vintage mid century modern.

Hsu cited Bobbye Tigerman, curator at the LA County Museum of Art, saying that people generally reject what their parents like and tend to go for what their grandparents preferred. This could explain why baby boomers are do not also love this trend. It's furniture had their parents.
Interestingly, Stewart MacDougall and Kipp Stewart, men who in partnership with Drexel heritage in the design of the declaration line of Drexel, have different explanations. They believe that this popularity may have something to do with the number of pieces out there. Good design also helps.
It would be just from watching too many episodes of Mad Men?
